To get the sound working on my p105-s6177 all i did was follow the steps
listed above. However when it says to make a custom dsdt file, i just
used one i found made online for our satellite model. So i followed all
but step 2 of loliverouge's fix.

Instead of step 2 heres what i did - (Note: Info i'm putting here is
just from this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=349491&highlight=p105-s6177)

I downloaded the custom dsdt file from here:
http://acpi.sourceforge.net/dsdt/view.php?id=802 and ran these commands
in the terminal

sudo apt-get install iasl (if you don't have iasl already installed)
iasl Toshiba-P105-S6177-3.30-custom.asl
sudo cp dsdt.aml /etc/initramfs-tools/DSDT.aml
sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-$(uname -r)

then just follow the rest of loliverouge's solution. If you have any
questions about anything here let me know. (not sure how coherent i am
at 5am)
