** Description changed:

  Note: launchpad suggested
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ristretto/+bug/1815486 but it
related to an older version packaged for xenial/bionic however it could
  be same issue

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS QA-test (live using latest daily)
  dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e6850, 5gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)

Opening files found on local hdd using install apps; in this case it was
- a WAV file that started playing & I closed app (ristretto) to move to
- next file & moments later crash report appeared.
+ a file that started playing & I closed app (ristretto) to move to next
+ file & moments later crash report appeared.

It's likely the crash was on exit; I'd moved my attention to thunar
looking for next (different type) file to open using an installed app,
so had mentally switched away from ristretto & didn't expect the apport
  window to appear.
+
+ Amendment: I assumed it was parole that crashed on WAV file; only just
+ realized it was probably PNG (saved screendump).. There was a delay I
+ think before I noticed apport
