I have just discovered a workaround to this issue in case anyone else is experiencing it and is also interested.
1. sudo apt-get install pmount 2. create a desktopStorageIcons.sh file in the /home/<user>/.kde/Autostart directory. 3. put the following without quotes into that file: 'pumount /media/cdrom &' 4. chmod +x /home/<user>/.kde/Autostart/desktopStorageIcons.sh 5. log the user out and log back in... 6. your media icons should automatically showup on the desktop. feel free to pmount or pumount any device you feel you need to get this working. I chose the cdrom as it should always be the same and I chose to pumount as it makes more sense. -- Storage Medium Icons Show Up After a Mounting/Unmounting Operation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172395 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
