Yes I'm positive: gufw works here on my Wayland session.

$ loginctl show-session $(awk '/tty/ {print $1}' <(loginctl)) -p Type | awk -F=
'{print $2}'
wayland

Gufw asks nicely for my sudo password and UI starts as expected.
