Please attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf from a
working session, and the /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old from after running in
Bulletproof-X mode. Also, attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf.failsafe to see if
anything weird happened in generating that.

Can you also try force-loading into BPX by logging in at the console,
doing `/etc/init.d/gdm stop` and then invoking
`/etc/gdm/failsafeXServer` directly and see what happens?

If the VT switching issue goes away, then that suggests some odd
interaction with gdm.

If it is still present, then restart your system and then try running
this command directly: `xinit xterm -- /usr/bin/X -br -once -config
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.failsafe`
