Public bug reported: Release: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS gnome-shell version 3.28.4-0ubuntu18.04.2
Directions to produce bug: * Install Ubuntu 18.04 onto a laptop with a touchscreen. * Install uxterm package. * Upgrade software packages to most recent version. * Confirm "Screen Keyboard" and "Typing Assist" are disabled in Universal Access. * Reboot. * Log in and start "uxterm". * Switch focus to another window. * Touch the "uxterm" window. Expected proper behavior: "uxterm" window gets focus, no other actions. Actual inappropriate behavior: "uxterm" window gets focus, and screen keyboard appears in defiance of "Screen Keyboard: off" setting and presence of undetachable physical keyboard. Empirical testing indicates that the screen keyboard doesn't appear for every touch, but seems to appear for every touch to any area that accepts text input, or perhaps for all areas that aren't internally marked somehow as not accepting text. This is a reappearance of Bug #1723857. The reappearance was noted in comments 61 and 62 of that bug, but apparently ignored because the bug is closed. I am creating this as a new bug per the guidance in 1723857#60: "This bug is closed so if you experience any problem at all then please open a new one." by Daniel van Vugt (vanvugt). ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854222 Title: Screen keyboard improperly appears on laptops with touchscreen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1854222/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
