Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. From the bug description it seems that the /usr/share/mysql-common/configure-symlinks file is missing:
/var/lib/dpkg/info/mysql-server-8.0.postinst: line 191: /usr/share /mysql-common/configure-symlinks: No such file or directory The file is installed by the mysql-common package and should be present in your upgrade scenario. Was it by any chance manually deleted? As this looks like local corruption or misconfiguration, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this report as Incomplete for the moment. If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. Without steps to reproduce the problem, there is little that can be done on this bug. ** Changed in: mysql-8.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1853082 Title: package mysql-server-8.0 8.0.18-0ubuntu0.19.10.1 failed to install/upgrade: installed mysql-server-8.0 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-8.0/+bug/1853082/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
