Alexander, I tried the gutsy-proposed pacage. It seems to me that the bugs happens less frequently, but still happens. The only nice things is that it seems that now, if you kill the rogue NetworkManager, then the system did suspend and resume ok.
I've seen a lot of related bugs (at least #85113, #145683, #139387).
