I confirmed this problem is somehow related to gnome theme. What I am using are:
* Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 * Compiz v 1:0.6.2 When I use theme 'Milky 2.1', my Thunderbird and Firefox die from time to time. But if I use theme 'Clearlooks', they works normally.
