Thank you for your report. The log files show that the problem happened while upgrading the grub-legacy-ec2 package, which is used to handle grub-legacy on Amazon EC2 instances, however other logs indicate that the system is a Dell laptop, and not a cloud instance.
Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.
