With more folk using SATA DVDRW drives to read the Ubuntu 7.10 LiveCD, the weakness in the way that the kernel is used to read into RAM is resulting in more and more folk failing to simply run a LiveCD session, let alone achieve installation, which is a great pity.
Similar failures are occurring with LinuxMint 4.0 (Daryna) LiveCDs. New, but not yet available machine BIOSs may help, but I am telling people to try burning the LiveCD to DVD and try that. It's a poor work-around, but often works !
