I explicitly wrote "gives users the broken version", not "gives me the broken
version". I don't use Ubuntu, and I don't need to use third-party packages.
There are people who do use Ubuntu, though, and it is for their sake that I'm
reporting this (especially since some of them are involved in the same projects
as myself). The existence of newer releases can be no justification for
ignoring packaging bugs in a release that, according to official docs, still
receives "Maintenance updates", not to mention that 18.04 is the *current* LTS
release.
The llvm package correctly symlinks llvm-link, llvm-ar and many others,
while llvm-lib is only reachable via the version suffix. It seems like a
simple oversight, and while mistakes can always happen, when they're
reported, I expect them to get acknowledged and fixed instead of them
getting belittled and me receiving smug responses.
