Similar problems with Acer TravelMate B118-M that has ElanTech touchpad ELAN0502. My distro is Lubuntu 16.04.6 LTS 64 bit with 4.15.0-60-generic kernel (up-to-date). Tried to upgrade the kernel to latest releases, but it claims for libssl1.1 (used in 18.04) and 16.04 uses libssl1.0 I tested the laptop with Lubuntu 18.04.3 64bit (USB installation stick) that it comes with 5.0.0-23-generic kernel and it works!
