I boot without splash. The boot sequence breaks with an error message and bails out into a root shell. I run apt-get dist-upgrade. It does not load anything from internet (eth0 is already configured) but start to install the packages that were downloaded before. Of course it ends with the same error message as it did before. So nothing changed for me.
