After comment #7 it's rather easy for me to reproduce this bug now. Interesting the system log during the hang says:
Sep 02 16:56:32 kab systemd-logind[752]: Session 9 logged out. Waiting for processes to exit. So maybe one of these are the issue? They are all reproducibly lingering after logout... dan 1367 0.0 0.1 17340 9692 ? Ss 15:42 0:00 /lib/systemd/systemd --user dan 1368 0.0 0.0 167296 3552 ? Ss 16:56 0:00 /usr/bin/dbus-daemon --session --address=systemd: --nofork --nopidfile --systemd-activation --syslog-only If I kill them then the system log reports successful session shutdown. But still the screen is black. Maybe because VT switching is too broken (kernel bug 1775764) to recover from it, which might be unrelated to the first issue of lingering session processes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1841915 Title: black screen, unresponsive, after logout from gnome Wayland session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1841915/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
