Binary package hint: menu
Just do:
sudo apt-get install menu menu-xdg
The debian menu doesn't appear automatically on your main menu and you can't
enable it
through the menu editor (you can check it but it has no effect and un-checks
itself).
You have to manually run 'sudo update-menus'.
IMHO this is not very intuitive. The installation should trigger the update
automatically
