Well, this was a LONG time ago, and I must have figured out how to get around the bug, or the bug was fixed, but... It seems to me that reporting not being able to get Wi-Fi to work, when it had worked perfectly well in all [L]Ubuntu versions I had used previous to 16.04 (with no fiddling at all), certainly does "appear to be a bug report" to me...
