The same issue is still on Hardy, the kernel has changed to Oct 14 but
still the 2.6.22 series things remain same :-

 uname -a

hdparm has moved on to become  7.7-1ubuntu1 but no change :(

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo hdparm -a1 -A1 -d1 /dev/sdb

/dev/sdb:
 setting fs readahead to 1
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
 setting drive read-lookahead to 1 (on)
 readahead     =  0 (off)
 look-ahead    =  1 (on)

why readahead is set to off, shouldn't it be set on on ?
