I think an update to reduce the tar file size isn't a bad thing, but I'm concerned about other things I see in the candidate version, and so won't be sponsoring this candidate.
Section: universe/devel seems incorrect for a media player: sound would be more appropriate. The maintainer has changed without explanation. More relevantly, the listed Maintainer does not have an Ubuntu email address, yet the package carries an Ubuntu revision. It's much preferable if python packages use the python-central or python-support structures for install-time compilation. Has iPod support been dropped? If not, it might be worth suggesting python-gpod (or the equivalent) It is generally not preferred to adjust the initial debianisation note in debian/copyright. Additional work should be noted in the copyright and licensing for the packaging at the bottom of debian/copyright. Changes in debian/copyright silently drop attribution to Lee Willis for mmkeys Packaging contributions from Adam Cécile have been dropped silently Not every window manager supports .PNG icons, so the menu file should use an XPM. I prefer if debian/ is not from upstream, as it makes it harder to adjust packaging if significant variance is preferred. Most critically, it is impossible to delete a file in the diff.gz, so if there are any files that the maintainer would like to remove, this requires special effort. The previous packaging repacked the tarball for this, which is also not an ideal solution. DH_VERBOSE should be commented out in a production release Some of the debian/rules rules don't seem to be doing anything useful (e.g. configure & dependencies) Watch files should avoid using .*, as perl is greedy. I've unsubscribed ubuntu-universe-sponsors pending resolution of the above. If a new candidate is prepared, please upload an interdiff generated with `interdiff -z exaile_0.2.11-0ubuntu1.diff.gz exaile_0.2.11.1-0ubuntu1.diff.gz`, and resubscribe ubuntu-universe- sponsors to request upload. ** Changed in: exaile (Ubuntu) Assignee: Emmet Hikory (persia) => (unassigned) Status: In Progress => Incomplete -- [hardy] New upstream release 0.2.11.1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/163181 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
