Public bug reported:

I backed up about 25GB from external storage to my computer yesterday.
I was NEVER asked for a password.
Today, however, I am copying another 25GB from external storage to my computer.
I keep getting a VERY annoying:
"Authentication Required"
Authentication is required to perform file operations
(My username)
"Password" [box]
Or it STOPS copying files.
What an irritation! It may have popped up 50 times already!
I'll wipe the box and get an older Ubuntu if I can't stop this.
Thank you for the solution in advance.
PS. I just downloaded this 1,996,488,704 18.04.2.iso file from ubuntu.com on
May 7, 2019
