For the average user, this solution is too complicated. Maybe there should be a 
Gnome app for installing new fonts (which runs fc-cache automatically)? 
I think, a manual installation of new fonts (e. g. the fonts from an existing 
windows installation) is a quite normal task. Shouldn't this work without the 
command line?
