For myself, I have not got any other applications open, and I have not got any Gnome shell extensions enabled (according to Gnome Tweaks). There must be something significant about the fact that it only fails from the Other Software tab, it works from the Ubuntu S/W, Updates and Developer Options tabs. There must be something unusual about the failing systems though, but what it is remains a mystery.
