Another thing to note is that CONFIG_HAVE_AOUT=y does not indicate that the a.out binfmt handler is enabled but the grep output in the bug description does include those matches. For example, the file xenial /linux-flo/3.4.0-5.23/armhf-config.flavour.flo has these lines:
