But it just happens I am unable to install anything, including simple apps
from Ubuntu's repository.

The message I get is something like:

"The package system is corrupt... "
.
I wonder if the only way out is to forget the past and to try and reinstall
everything... maybe even it could be best to wait for version 19.04 (LTS?).
.
Anyway any help is welcome.
