I have an Inspiron 1501, and have installed the hal and libsmbios packaged from hardy and put dcdbas in /etc/modules, but I still cant control my backlight. The gnome-power-manager applet does show a brightness slider now though, but it does nothing. Setting the backlight using the dellLcdBrightness doesn't work either.
