Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

I booted with the Ubuntu 7.10 liveCD, and all seems well, except when
compiz starts. I get lots of artifacts on top of the screen.

lspci shows my graphics card as

01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R350 [Radeon 9800]
(Secondary)

And the output of compiz --replace:
$ compiz --replace
