Public bug reported: 7.04 updated, gimp-print 5.0.0.99.1-0ubuntu2.
If a printer is configured as an HP Color LaserJet (or several other color HP printers), only grayscale printing is offered. pull up a color image in gimp select Print... from the file menu see that the image is in color in the page preview click Setup Printer select any HP Color LaserJet see that the image is now grayscale go into Output tab see that Color is grayed out All of these printers are color printers, so they should be able to print in color. The source of the problem may be in the foo2hp utility of the foo2zjs package, according to some of the several other bugs complaining about color problems with HP printing under Ubuntu, or in the PPD. It seems there is a systematic problem here that many are seeing and it should be fixed and backported, if necessary. Apparently it's been around a while. HP printers are among the most common, particularly their color lasers, so a lof of people are affected by this. Relevant bugs: Bug #158837, Bug #90250, Bug #55341. Some very complicated workarounds are given in those bug reports, but none that is either simple or practical to implement broadly. This really needs to be fixed and released. --jh-- ** Affects: gimp-print (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gimp-print disables color on HP color laserjets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162316 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
