Ugh, tab key did a submit! Launchpad needs some work. So, in summary:
- with "acpi=off noapic", all kernels can reboot but hang during shutdown - without "acpi=off noapic", <= 4.5.7 can reboot and shutdown, but later kernels hang during both reboot and shutdown. Since I can't run the ancient kernels forever, I'm adding "acpi=off noapic" and will just live with the hang during shutdown.
