It's not needed for everyone, just for laptops with hybrid nvidia graphics. With current behavior some perfectly reasonable user actions render system unusable without CLI knowledge. IMO it's exactly driver managers' problem and it should not just install a package but make sure drivers are correctly installed for this system.
