Perhaps I can shed some more light on the subject, since my last post. 1) I have checked both CD's, Live and Alternative for download checksum errors. Both CD's are error free! 2) I re-recorded both ISO's at 1 times speed 3) The above mentioned bug relates to using a 2nd HDD for the placement of Ubuntu with XP on a separate HDD. 3) I used the Live CD version, on both systems
Today Nov 07, I tried doing an Ubuntu install on one HDD only, with no XP present, on both computer systems. 1) I used the alternate gutsy CD for the install 2) the update manager installed the 25 updates 3) I had just installed my list of Bookmarks into Firfox 4) screen freezes just as Firefox was closing. on the other machine: 1) I used the alternate gutsy CD for the install 2) the update manager installed the 25 updates 3) opened the home folder, screen freezes 1ST computer has the following: 1) P4 CPU 2.4ghz 2) ATI radeon 9000 graphics card 3) 1 gb of ram 4) 2 LCD monitors, one IBM 1024x768, two Gateway 22" HD Monitor 16080x1060 2ND computer has the following: 1) Celeron CPU 367 MHZ 2) WinFast A340 (0322) graphics card 3) 384 mb of ram 4) one IBM LCD monitor 1024x768 At the moment I have not lost a lot of time or data, since I cant even get to a point of making a workable Ubuntu system. Such as I had running under Fiesty. Please let me know if I can be of more assistance. I would like to see Ubuntu succeed.
