well it seems worse for me now. I don't think it has worked once since it broke again, and the USB trick worked EVERY time for me previously. It may be related to installing Leopard, as it seems so far that those of us that are seeing the regression have installed Leopard.
I also noticed that some files that appeared in the EFI partition after the firmware update are now missing.
