I have activated "bionic-proposed", updated my system and performed a test. Unfortunately, the problem is still there.
It showed itself slightly differently (this time - but the appearance has varied in the past as well): instead of an irregular black and white patterned background, I got my configured background screen with a black bar at the left side. But the essential symptoms remained the same: mouse pointer does follow mouse movement but no reaction to the keyboard; start program windows not shown on the screen; top bar not shown; "ubuntu-dock" not shown. The problem behaviour still seems non-deterministic: if I wait long enough before I login (sufficiently long that I no longer hear disk activity), then the login succeeds. If I try to login immediately, there is a good chance that the login fails with the above symptoms. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1796466 Title: Graphical login problems after upgrade to linux-image-4.15.0-36 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1796466/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
