Public bug reported:
The system is a Dell Dimension 5150 with an nvidia 8600gt and a second
sata hd added.
Steps to reproduce the bug:
1. I boot the system with the cd in
2. I choose the first option of the installer menu (run and install)
3. the orange progress bar starts going back and forth
4. the screen gets corrupted: the progress bar gets split horizontally; the
animation still goes on, but with artifacts remaining both above and under the
bar
5. I get two "bursts" of system beeps (they seem to be group of eight beeps,
but I'm not sure) with a small delay between them
6. the installation blocks and the system starts beeping continually (not nice
to hear)
Notes
1. running the installer in "safe graphics" mode gives the same results
2. installing 7.04 and then apt dist-upgrading to 7.10 works flawlessly
3. the installation CD has been checked for errors
