I have the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 5100, with ATI Radeon Mobility M7.
The problem started after upgrading to Gutsy. I noticed that everyday around 10
mins after I turn on my laptop, the keyboard becomes unresponsive, the mouse
cursor still moves, but the clicks do not register. CTRL+ALT+Backspace doesn't
work either. I checked syslog for a pattern and I noticed that I always get the
crash a few minutes after cron.daily is executed. I then ran the tasks in
/etc/cron.daily one by one, and I realized that the process
/etc/cron.daily/slocate is the culprit. It runs for a few mins then crashes the
system as explained before. Is this considered the same bug, or should I file a
new one. Can other users experiencing the crash try out the following command
to confirm?:
sudo /etc/cron.daily/slocate
