Here is another user affected by the same issue. Running Ubuntu 18.04.1, kernel 4.15.0-34-generic.
In Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, I was also experiencing similar problems: optical output in headphones jack was always on (could see the red light), no headphones sound after suspending to RAM, and not recognizing plug-in action of jack, only manually using alsamixer. I managed to overcome the problem installing this fix package: https://github.com/Unrud/init-headphone However, it only works for Xenial (16.04). I tried again this approach with Ubuntu 18.04.1 without success. In case it helps, it seems that this laptop has the SoundBlaster X-Fi 5 chipset installed. Finally, you can manually turn on the headphones output in alsamixer, and mute the rest of the outputs to get it work again. But it is a nuisance. I suspect the problem might be in Pulse Audio Volume Control or somewhere in between alsamixer and PAVC. If alsamixer can see and activate the audio jack it is probably not a hardware or kernel problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791806 Title: alsa does not detech headphone output on Clevo P651RS laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1791806/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
