Hello, I got an nVidia GeForce Go 7200 on an AMD64 X2 laptop.
1. My tty's problem was solved using instructions in MOM2007's post. But I was using vesafb & fbcon modules only, ie. I didn't use nvidiafb module. 2. A while ago I did tried to use nvidiafb instead of vesafb, but I got problems similar to what 'gwi' has mentioned. So I just disabled 'nvidiafb' 3. For X, I use nvidia-glx driver and NOT the nvidia-glx-new, as the nvidia-glx-new caused hangups on my laptop even if I disable compiz stuff. 4. With the nvidia-glx, I was not able to use compiz, because with compiz enabled, if I switch to a tty then back to X, I would just get a mouse pointer over a black screen and that's it, sometimes I even can't switch back to the tty, and even if I can, after few moments the laptop would hangup. 5. Anyways, I gave it a try to add nvidiafb to the fbcon & vesafb modules, and it was fine, I was even now able to get compiz working ! Now, I am thinking to test nvidia-glx-new again with nvidiafb module loaded. -- أحمد المحمودي (Ahmed El-Mahmoudy) Digital design engineer GPG KeyID: 0x9DCA0B27 (@ subkeys.pgp.net) GPG Fingerprint: 087D 3767 8CAC 65B1 8F6C 156E D325 C3C8 9DCA 0B27 -- tty[1-6] are active but display nothing in Gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129910 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
