I updated the Debian bug to pick the change as upstream accepted now (my submit was committed a few minutes ago).
We can pick that up on the next merge, but actually lets fix it for Cosmic and later Bionic (SRU policy). Change is trivial, only a bugfix (Feature Freeze is in place).
