Odd, Ubuntu has no particular Delta on the 2.4.4 package. I'd try to make you an 2.4.6 package available - that I'd want to do for the upcoming Ubuntu Cosmic release anyway.
If it is good in there we at least know there really is an upstream fix between 2.4.4 and 2.4.6 that has to be found to fix this issue here in Bionic as well.
