Confirming this bug on thinkpad ipw2100.  No DHCPOFFERS with the
standard wireless approach but it comes up fine when done by hand.

One difference I notice, is that the failed case has a different avahi message 
"Registering new address record..." rather than the successful case "Joining 
mDNS multicast ..." but it's likely
a consequence of the bug more than a cause.

By the way, since this makes Gutsy pretty useless for a laptop, how come this 
bug doesn't have
higher priority?
