Confirming this bug on thinkpad ipw2100. No DHCPOFFERS with the standard wireless approach but it comes up fine when done by hand.
One difference I notice, is that the failed case has a different avahi message "Registering new address record..." rather than the successful case "Joining mDNS multicast ..." but it's likely a consequence of the bug more than a cause. By the way, since this makes Gutsy pretty useless for a laptop, how come this bug doesn't have higher priority? -- NetworkManager on Gutsy: No DHCPOFFERS - but dhclient working standalone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153219 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
