Public bug reported: I've got msi gp62m 7rex leopard pro laptop. Previously i was running ubuntu 16.04 on it, then i decided to upgrade to 18.04. I installed ubuntu 18.04 on ssd+hdd (/ on ssd, /home on hdd, ssd luks+lvm, hdd luks). Then i installed nvidia-384 drivers and cinnamon. Everything worked fine, but one day it just stopped powering off when shutting down, rebooting bug or suspending. I fully reinstalled ubuntu (note: image was downloaded after the bug started to occur), but the bug still persists - not powering off. I tried another kernel - 4.13, i tried running ubuntu in software rendering mode, using integrated graphics instead of nvidia, stopping display manager before shutting down, updating and resetting everything, including bios, but no luck. I tried adding acpi=force in /etc/default/grub, removing 'quiet splash' - nothing changed.
When shutting down or rebooting it stops at: All filesystems unmounted Deactivating swaps All swaps deactivated Detaching loop devices All loop devices detached Detaching DM devices kvm: exiting hardware virtualization When suspending: Suspending console(s) (use no_console_suspend to debug) This also occurs on the live image. On boot it shows this messages related to acpi: [ 0.050394] ACPI Error: [^^^PEG0.PEGP.EASP] Namespace lookup failure, AE_NOT_FOUND (20170831/psargs-364) [ 0.050411] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed \_SB.PCI0.LPCB.EC._REG, AE_NOT_FOUND (20170831/psparse-550) [ 0.050431] ACPI: \: Used as first EC [ 0.050432] ACPI: \: GPE=0x13, EC_CMD/EC_SC=0x66, EC_DATA=0x62 [ 0.050433] ACPI: \: Used as boot ECDT EC to handle transactions [ 0.054052] ACPI Exception: Could not find/resolve named package element: V0PR (20170831/dspkginit-381) [ 0.054080] ACPI Exception: Could not find/resolve named package element: V0PR (20170831/dspkginit-381) [ 0.054119] ACPI Exception: Could not find/resolve named package element: V1PR (20170831/dspkginit-381) [ 0.054144] ACPI Exception: Could not find/resolve named package element: V1PR (20170831/dspkginit-381) [ 0.054182] ACPI Exception: Could not find/resolve named package element: V2PR (20170831/dspkginit-381) [ 0.054207] ACPI Exception Tho is resets if i hit <alt> <sysrq> <b>, doesn't power off if a hit <o> instead of <b>, but powers off if i do it on the encryption passphrase prompt. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "IMG_20180717_213909.jpg" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1782408/+attachment/5164955/+files/IMG_20180717_213909.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1782408 Title: not powering off at shutdown, reboot or suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1782408/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
