Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu. This is the error reported in the logs: Preparing to unpack .../mysql-server-5.7_5.7.22-0ubuntu18.04.1_amd64.deb ... grep: /etc/mysql/: No such file or directory (...) mysqld: Can't read dir of '/etc/mysql/conf.d/' (Errcode: 2 - No such file or directory) mysqld: [ERROR] Fatal error in defaults handling. Program aborted!
It's odd to not have the /etc/mysql directory in your system. >From your dpkg history, I can see that you installed and removed mysql and other related packages like phpmyadmin several times over. I couldn't reproduce this error, so I suggest you start fresh, and then, if it happens again, please show us the steps you took so we can try to reproduce it. ** Changed in: mysql-5.7 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1780830 Title: package mysql-server-5.7 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: installed mysql-server-5.7 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.7/+bug/1780830/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
