I have what comes with gutsy. I don't know if that means its installed
or not. is there a command i can run to see that?

When I go to Appearance Preferences>Visual Effects and select either
"Normal" or "Extra" here is what happens:

1. All of the window decorations dissappear for about a second as the computer
does its thing and then it all returns without window decorations
2. using "System Monitor" I see that a program called "compiz" is running.
3. i don't see anything labeled "gtk-window-decorator" running using "System
Monitor"

since it wasn't running in System Monitor I tried the following command:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gtk-window-decorator
gtk-window-decorator: error while loading shared libraries: libwnck-1.so.18:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
