I think several different bugs must have been merged into one here.
hdparm doesn't fix the problem for me.  I can use it to stop the disk
spinning down, and also to stop the cycle count from increasing, but
the hdd still clicks every 5 seconds.

I think the different bugs should be in separate reports, not all
mixed together.
