I'm using Xubuntu 18.04. I have a USB siemens keyboard with italian
layout, which uses the Alt Gr key (right alt) to insert special
characters like # or ~ when pressed in combination with other keys.
It worked fine until 17.10, but after the upgrade to 18.04 using the Alt
Gr key doesn't work anymore, i.e. no characters come out of a
combination. I found out that resetting the keyboard by disconnecting
and then reconnecting it fixes the problem, but the changes only remain
until I logout or reboot. Standby doesn't affect it.
I've tested this with two different keyboards and the results are
exactly the same for both.
Replicate bug:
- login
- set italian keyboard layout
- test AltGr in any software
- AltGr is not working (no special characters are inserted)
- disconnect and reconnect the keyboard
- alt gr works properly
- logout and log back in
- alt gr stops working again
