I have tried to check C-states with powertop, but it says, that detailed
information is only available for mobile processors (which mine is not - I
think it is a desktop P4 HT crammed in a notebook).
cpuinfo shows:
...
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 15
model : 4
model name : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
stepping : 3
cpu MHz : 3000.000
...

About the interrupts: on 2.6.20-15 I get about 300 timer interrupts/sec.
On 2.6.22-14 the timer is very quiet - about 200 interrupts after 5
minutes uptime.
