Public bug reported: Impact ------ system-config-printer is only a Recommends. If it is uninstalled, then the Additional Printer Settings button in GNOME Settings > Printers doesn't work.
Test Case --------- Install the updates. It should now no longer be possible to uninstall system-config-printer without uninstalling gnome-control-center. Regression Potential -------------------- This doesn't really change the status quo for most people since system-config-printer was already part of the default install. Other Info ---------- Eventually the Ubuntu Desktop team wants to remove the Additional Printer Settings we patch in, but there are still a few features that GNOME Settings doesn't have yet, like printer sharing. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: Fix Committed ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Low Status: Triaged ** Tags: bionic ** Also affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1770695 Title: Additional Printer Settings button requires system-config-printer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1770695/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
