You don't "have to" do it manually, i was just trying to make sure that the required packages are available for you, you could perfectly do this via synaptic package manager, which is the proper tool for doing this graphically, i think. Could you please check if you have available synaptic at "System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager".
