Dell XPS 15 - Same issue. I first upgraded Ubuntu 17.10->18.0. That worked but shutdown was very slow. Then I reinstalled 18.04 today to get a fresh start. But after boot, when entering password, laptop freezes completely. I also try "try Ubuntu" and that also fails.
