Update:

After removing most of the KDE packages the initial rotation is gone.
Obviously it had to do with some configuration I did in KDE.

I have meanwhile removed the Nvidia GeForce FX5200 and replaced it with
a ATI Radeon 7000. Now I get a strange error message when I use Grandr:

"User set screen size larger than max screen size"

My screen size is 1400x1050, and I have no clue what the "max screen
size" is supposed to be.
