Yes this was the DESKTOP (live CD) version.

Well, let me think.

I don't believe that it followed the usual course of events that takes
place on a Dapper install.

I think it prompted me for a restart but I don't think it ever prompted
for the removal of the CD.  I believe that I ejected the CD after I got
the error/scripting I sent to you.  And like I said I had no knowledge
of the meaning of the script of the message and when I tried typing
"exit" like it said nothing happened.  I think I also tried to type
xserver and that did not do anything, so I did a manual machine restart
using the restart power button on the machine (not the main power
button).  I believe I tried alt,crtl,del and that did not work.
